Competing with humans in every possible domain, robots are now making and breaking records of their own. In fact, they’ve carved out a place for themselves in the Guinness Book of World Records!

From jaw-dropping performances in the domain of play & performance, we’ve compiled a collection of robot world records that showcase what machines can really do. And it’s not just numbers—we’ve included videos and photos too, so you can see these amazing feats in action.

Arranged from the latest to the oldest, these robots’ word records are totally worth a scroll-through!

1. Fastest Robot to Solve a Rubik’s Cube

Breaking the Mitsubishi Electric robot’s 0.305 s record, the fastest robot to solve the Rubik’s Cube was achieved by Matthew Patrohay, Junpei Ota, Aden Hurd, and Alex Berta in April 2025. Just a month ago, this robot solved the Rubik’s Cube in only 0.103 seconds.

2. Farthest Basketball Shot by a Humanoid Robot

Robots playing various sports are common nowadays. Meet CUE6 — Toyota’s AI basketball-shooting humanoid robot. This robot set the record for the farthest basketball shot by a humanoid, at 24.55 meters. The record was achieved in Japan in September 2024.

3. Fastest 100 m by a bipedal robot

What would prevent a robot from completing 100 m in just 24.73 seconds when its legs are designed like the world’s fastest-running bird, the ostrich? Jokes apart, Cassie, built by Agility Robotics, completed this 100 m dash from a standing start and returned to standing without falling in Corvallis, Oregon, USA.

In this robot, the neural network controller for dash was specialized for running but unable to make it stand. To overcome this, Oregon State University Dynamic Robotics Laboratory transitioned between two different neural networks, one that can run and one that can stand.

4. Fastest 100 m by a Quadrupedal robot

When we’re talking about the fastest 100 m by robots, how can we forget HOUND — the quadrupedal robot developed by KAIST DRDC Lab, South Korea? HOUND completed 100 m in just 19.87 seconds, setting the world record for the fastest 100 m by a quadrupedal robot in October 2023.

5. Most skips by a robot in 1 minute

PENTA-X, the penguin robot made by Ricoh Company Ltd in Ebina, Japan, recorded the most skips in one minute — 170 skips — in March 2022.

6. Record of Longest Table Tennis Rally with a Robot

In November 2021, the intelligent robot “Xiao Qiu”, developed by the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology, engaged in a table tennis rally with a human partner, achieving 6,241 consecutive hits, creating a world record in guinness book. The robot features a six-joint mechanical arm capable of both forehand and backhand shots . The attempt lasted about 2 hours.

8. Most robots dancing simultaneously

Last but not the least in this series. The world record for most robots dancing simultaneously is 1372 and it was achieved by TIM S.p.A. (Italy) in Rome, Italy, in February 2018.

These tiny 40 cm tall robots made out of aluminium alloy with plastic coating are named Alpha 1S, and how cute they are!
